SugarCRM (News - Alert), a vendor of commercial open source customer relationship management (CRM) software, has announced SugarCRM stack installers providing "simplified, wizard-based installation for Sugar Community Edition," Sugar officials say, describing the release as "the latest version of SugarCRM's commercial open source CRM application for both the Solaris and OpenSolaris platforms."
SugarCRM stack installers put components to run SugarCRM in a Solaris and OpenSolaris environment. The stack installer provides a way to deploy interface that installs Apache, MySQL, PHP as well as Sugar Community Edition.
Paul Oh, director of Technology Alliances, SugarCRM, noted that the firm has "seen increasing customer demand for the Solaris OS and open source operating systems such as OpenSolaris."
Juan Carlos Soto, vice president, Global Market Development and Engineering, Sun Microsystems (News - Alert), said the combination of SugarCRM and the open source Solaris OS "reduces risk for our customers."
Earlier this week Intelestream, an official SugarCRM partner in Chicago, announced that the group "Everything SugarCRM Chicago" held their first meeting recently.
"Everyone said the meeting was a tremendous help. There were people there who were considering various CRM options and just wanted to learn more about Sugar, people who are already using the application, and programmers interesting in learning more about SugarCRM code. I believe these regular meetings benefit all," said Jason Green, Founder and CEO of Intelestream.
Included on each month's agenda are the latest tips and tricks for making the most out of SugarCRM, a question and answer session with SugarCRM experts, and current information about software patches and new releases. From absolute beginner to expert administrator, the meet-up is open to all interested in learning more about SugarCRM.
Late last year SugarCRM announced that two SugarCRM customers -- WeberHaus
and Kassel Initiative -- won top honors for CRM deployments at the CRM-Expo
