Officials of OnPath Technologies have announced that the company, known for its scalable connectivity and monitoring products for networks, is introducing the HorizON 2.2.
Larry Cantwell, CTO of ONPATH, said developing the security and application flexibility advantages was “a clear priority to expand our Cyber Security and Network Monitoring applications."
Also this week OnPath introduced an all-optical blade, called the O-Blade, according to [http://it.tmcnet.com/topics/it/articles/156697-onpath-technologies-releases-all-optical-switching-blade.htm] TMC’s (News - Alert) Deepika Mala. "The O-Blade release marks a significant innovation milestone for ONPATH by offering the first hybrid all optical and electrical switching system optimized for Enterprise and Federal applications," said Brian McCann, CEO of OnPath.
The HorizON 2.2 is its management and monitoring software, and company officials say this is a “significant” upgrade. Specifically, they point to major improvements in the offering’s network intelligence, user simplicity, and system security.
It’s a Linux-based server software product, used for management and monitoring of ONPATH's family of UCS 2900and 3900 platforms “from any local or remote location,” company officials say. It’s capable of managing up to 128 separate switches and over 100,000 meshed ports in a single application.
Running down the most important new features and upgrades:
Authentication, authorization, and accounting capabilities. The tool gives users secure remote access with proper role-based control and auditing. This means it can interoperate with existing corporate management systems, such as TACACS+ and RADIUS.
An external Red Hat (News - Alert) Linux server. Company officials say this adds the ability to manage multiple systems from a centralized control system, “including a redundant server option for enhanced availability.”
A mixed platform. The main advantage of this, company officials say, is enabling the combined management of any mix of 2900 and 3900 systems, with either port modules, S-Blades or O-Blades, from the same dashboard and provisioning screens.
Additional features mentioned by company officials include “port flapping logic for cable break simulation, enhanced GUI for simplified use, external Syslog and cross switch link support between systems.”
