Eyeball Keeps an Eye on VoIP Consumer and Business Markets

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

The increase in penetration of broadband Internet continues to drive the adoption of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) both for consumer and business markets, propelling the VoIP option as the preferred mode of communications, according to Eyeball Networks (News - Alert).

As a pioneer and leading provider in the VoIP, video telephony, and instant messaging industry, Eyeball offers a modular suite of prove endpoint software, turnkey server software and software development kits (SDKs) based on industry standards and whenever possible, peer-to-peer media delivery.

So when Eyeball Networks offered its NAT-traversal solutions on the open test market the company was the first to supply the reference STUN-TURN server earlier this year for 22nd SIP interoperability test event arranged by SIP forum.

The SIPit, or Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) Interoperability Test, is a weeklong event hosted bi-annually where people bring their SIP implementations to ensure they work together.
The Vancouver-based company delivered one of the most comprehensive implementation of latest IETF drafts on STUN, TURN and ICE for seamless traversal VoIP calls through NATs, firewalls and web-proxies, according to industry insiders.

Shahadat Khan (News - Alert), CTO Eyeball Networks, noted the company was the only STUN-TURN server platform invited to this industry-leading interoperability event to support testing user-agents and client software implementing STUN, TURN and ICE.

“We had recently upgraded our AnyFirewall Server and Engine to use the latest STUN, TURN and ICE drafts, and were looking forward to see it perform with other solutions in the industry,” said Khan.

Eyeball has developed high quality multimedia communications along with rich presence, universal mobility and availability, and lower cost are some of the benefits VoIP brings to end-users. For operators, it promises new revenues from new and converged services, service bundling, increased customer loyalty, and lower capital and operation expenses (capex/opex) by building and running a single IP-based network for all communications services.

Eyeball AnyFirewall Server provides a scalable firewall and NAT traversal solution for SIP end-points based on the latest IETF standards STUN, TURN and ICE (i.e. ICE 19).
Eyeball AnyFirewall Engine is the industry's leading NAT traversal Software Development Kit (SDK) for guaranteed VoIP and video call completion across NATs, firewalls, and web-proxies.

The developer of NAT-traversal solutions, and voice, video, IM software, says, ironically enough the main driving force behind VoIP adoption also poses one of the biggest challenges – VoIP calls do not work well in many broadband situations for NATs and Firewalls break VoIP.

Mark your calendars for INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO — the biggest and most comprehensive IP communications event of the year.  ITEXPO (News - Alert) (News - Alert) will take place in Los Angeles, California, September 16-18, 2008, featuring three valuable days of exhibits, conferences, and networking opportunities you can’t afford to miss.
