Need Mobile Procurement Help?

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Basically put, if you’re dealing with mobile phone charges you’d probably like to know you’re getting the best deal and not getting ripped off.

The Telecom Information Management System might be the thing to help. We’re talking about a Web-based platform designed and developed by Amtel (News - Alert) engineers to manage all aspects of the telecom services at an enterprise.

“Our copyright software algorithms” are used, company officials say, to “work with companies to institute mobile policies which help in keeping cost under control and check for fraud.”

What does that mean in actuality? It means, for one thing, managing day to day mobile services is a challenging endeavor at an enterprise. But you already know that -- what with determining the best optimal usage plan, which device and feature best suits the needs of an employee, how to track authorized users, how to track new orders, disconnect users, devices breakdown, allocate costs across different departments spread among different vendors and whatnot you’ve got a whole lot to worry about.

That’s because mobile is becoming a more and more critical element at your organization, unless we miss our guess: “This is also leading to mobile charges becoming one of the top components of telecom operating expense at an organization,” TIMS officials say.

The company is offering an Amtel-engineered product with a feature-rich software platform and copyrighted algorithms to help you optimize and control your mobile voice and data services.

There are several different managers engineered for different uses, such as Procurement Manager, which tracks all the changes in the mobile environment at an enterprise: “Order new activations with right rate plans, disconnect departing employees, equipment returns, reporting port over from one carrier to another and more is handled in Procurement Manager.”

The Policy Manager “enforces mobile procurement and usage based policies throughout an Enterprise. Telecom managers can set up usage thresholds across multiple parameters for different sets of users. Systems can automatically send audit reports to responsible managers.”

Many more features are included, including Professional Services, which are “the cornerstone of our mobile offering. Our experts would work side by side with you in setting up and selecting right plans, negotiating contracts with carriers, instituting wireless policies and more at your organization.”
