SecureMedia, Espial Integrate Encryptonite System with Evo

By Spencer D. Chin, TMCnet Web Editor

IPTV middleware provider Espial (News - Alert) and SecureMedia, a supplier of content protection software, have announced SecureMedia's new release of the Encryptonite ONE CA/DRM System has been seamlessly integrated with Espial's award-winning Evo IPTV (News - Alert) middleware and applications.

According to both companies, the combination gives telcos and service providers an advanced, secure delivery platform to view broadcast and video-on-demand content.

Espial's flagship Evo IPTV Service Platform product family, which includes Evo Client, various data-driven applications including Evo EPG, Evo VOD, Evo DVR, Evo Browser and Evo BML, the carrier-grade Evo Server, and the open Evo Future- Proof Framework, have been widely accepted as a more open, modular, scalable and faster alternative to the first-generation and more monolithic solutions on the market.
Evo was recently recognized by ABI Research (News - Alert) as the leading supplier of IPTV client middleware and named Internet Telephony's "Product of the Year".

With its advanced data-driven architecture and non- proprietary, modular applications platform, Evo Client combines service creation flexibility with the ability to create a compelling user experience to attract and lock in subscribers. Evo Server is a massively scalable, continuously available and truly open IPTV service platform, according to Espial.

"With its proven CA/DRM solution protecting quality media entertainment, SecureMedia is regarded as one of the industry's most experienced and innovative content security providers," said Brian Mahony, Espial vice president of marketing, in a statement. "CodeConnect, their latest innovation for content security integration, combined with our Evo Future-Proof Framework and Evo IPTV Service Platform, has quickly allowed us to offer operators and service providers our next- generation IPTV solution with Encryptonite ONE's robust, content security."

SecureMedia's Encryptonite ONE System is a CA/DRM software solution that allows telcos and broadband operators to acquire distribution rights to the most compelling broadcast channels and VOD programming. Approved by all Hollywood studios and major TV broadcasters, the Encryptonite ONE System succeeds in securing ubiquitous content on current and future media devices while offering IPTV service providers the lowest cost of operation. Its design requires minimal incremental bandwidth and features an ultra-light, processor- efficient client that can be deployed on virtually any consumer media appliance.

By employing a patented, common encryption scheme for both broadcast and VOD content and through its exclusive EverLock process, the Encryptonite ONE System enables persistent, efficient protection of content in PVR and nPVR applications, set-top boxes, PCs, portable players and mobile phones.

"We are excited to partner with industry leader, Espial, and so quickly integrate our new release of the Encryptonite ONE System with Evo IPTV Service Platform," said Fred Ellis, CEO of SecureMedia, in a statement.  "Together, our products' combined synergies of openness, flexibility, modularity and cost- effectiveness define a next-generation IPTV platform that securely distributes and displays quality digital entertainment with even more convenience and options."

The Espial/SecureMedia IPTV Ecosystem, along with Tilgin, a leading provider of customer premises equipment for triple play services with their Mood IP Set-top Box, will be demonstrated in the SecureMedia Technical Suite at the Las Vegas Hilton during NAB2007.
