Mitel (News - Alert), a company that specializes in IP
telephony and IP presence solutions, recently opened a new office in Rio de Janeiro to serve the Brazilian market. The company also appointed a general manager of Brazilian operations, Paulo Ricardo Pinto.
Paulo Ricardo Pinto brings more than 25 years experience in the Brazilian telecom market to his new position at Mitel. Before Mitel, Pinto held positions in sales, marketing, business development and strategic alliances with a variety of telecom industry companies including Newbridge Networks, Gilat Satellite Networks (News - Alert), and Motorola Brazil.
Frost & Sullivan analyst Ronald Gruia commented in Mitel’s announcement that Brazil represents the largest enterprise market for annual station shipments (TDM
and IP) in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region.
Although Brazil currently ranks second behind Mexico when it comes to IP penetration, Gruia said that there are positive signs IP adoption is increasing there, which makes expansion into the country a logical next step in Mitel’s Latin American expansion strategy.
“There is a significant untapped potential for IP telephony in Brazil, as enterprises are just beginning their IP migration journeys,” Gruia said in a statement.
Gilles Rousso, Mitel’s vice president for the CALA region, added that, thanks to his company’s expansion, Brazilian companies now have access to the industry’s premier IP platform for unifying business communications.
“Providing customers with the benefits of reduced costs, increased operational effectiveness and seamless integration into their business processes exemplify the solutions that Mitel delivers,” Rousso said in a statement.
Because its growth in the region depends on a strong channel presence, Mitel also has expanded its PARTNERprogram throughout Brazil’s 26 states and its federal district. This program offers promotions rewarding partners for their commitment to Mitel, and for delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Two of the most recent additions to Mitel’s channel partner community in Brazil are Seal Telecom (provides IP voice conference systems) and Agora Telecom (reseller of trunked radio systems).
“Over the last year Mitel has expanded its presence and coverage throughout Latin America by establishing offices and expanding its network of channel partners,” Rousso said. “As a respected veteran of the local telecommunications industry, Paulo brings an extensive network of industry contacts that will help us to continue to establish a strong presence for Mitel in the Brazilian market.”
