Dialogic (News - Alert) made headlines today with the release of a new version of its Diva SIPcontrol software.
The new version, when combined with the company’s Diva BRI adapters and Dialogic’s HMP software, is designed to enable software developers to deploy a variety of applications into BRI network environments. According to the announcement, these applications can include, for example, SIP/HMP-based unified messaging, IVR
, and contact center applications.
Early last month Eicon Networks Corporation (“Eicon”) announced that it had completed its acquisition of Intel’s (News - Alert) Media and Signaling business and that it would be changing its name to Dialogic Corporation.
The Diva product line comes from the Eicon side of the house, and the HMP software has its roots in the Intel product line. Dialogic’s VP of Marketing Jim Machi commented on the integration of the two companies’ products.
“We are very excited to introduce an integrated solution set from the Eicon and Intel product families to the market so rapidly after the creation of the new Dialogic,” said Machi in a press statement. “The combination of our market leading HMP software and BRI ISDN
telephony interfaces provide a compelling hybrid solution that fits the needs of SIP application developers who need to deploy their systems into both TDM and VoIP
networks.”
Writing about the reemergence of the Dialogic brand, Rich Tehrani addressed how the two product lines would complement each other, and it looks like the integration has begun in earnest.
SIP
developers can take advantage of the new solution to integrate a BRI-to-SIP gateway into a Windows-based server running HMP software. This enables call control information from the Diva telephony board to be translated into SIP.
According to Dialogic, the ‘glue’ that brings this solution together is the Diva SIPcontrol software, effectively a media gateway
that interfaces the telephony adapters to the HMP software.
The company also announced plans to extend this functionality to other Diva telephony adapters, both digital and analog.
T.30 and T.38 fax are also supported, with an eye toward enabling unified messaging and multi-mode contact center applications to take advantage of this new solution.
Diva SIPcontrol v1.2 is currently available as a beta release for testing and development, with general availability expected in January 2007.
