Eicons Diva Server SIPcontrol Wins TMC Labs 2006 Innovation Award

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Media processing solutions provider Eicon Networks announced Tuesday that its Diva Server SIPcontrol product won a TMC Labs 2006 Innovation Award from Internet Telephony magazine.
The product acts as a SIP user agent, converting call control information from the Diva Server telephony board into SIP messages.
“Voice channels are converted into IP packets and streamed via the RTP protocol into the Vocalocity platform or to another SIP endpoint,” Eicon explained in a press release.
The company noted that when Diva Server’s telephony boards are combined with Diva Server and SIPcontrol, the result is an open standards-based IP/PSTN gateway.
“Diva Server SIPcontrol has clearly demonstrated to the staff of TMC Labs that Eicon’s product is truly innovative in the burgeoning VoIP/IP telephony industry,” said Rich Tehrani, Internet Telephony’s Editor-in-Chief, in a statement.
TMC Labs Editorial Director Tom Keating added that the award Eicon earned “is not based on company revenue or number of products sold. It is based on the concept that Diva Server SIPcontrol is innovative. Diva Server SIPcontrol deserves this great honor for creating a ground-breaking VoIP product.”
Highlights from the TMC Labs 2006 Innovation Awards will appear in the July, 2006 issue of Internet Telephony Magazine.
