NEC Unified Solutions Brings IP to the Ballet

NEC brings new meaning to pas de deux
 
As part of a government and privately funded initiative to technologically advance the arts, Canada’s National Ballet School has selected NEC Unified Solutions’ customized IP solution, offering a support facility for trainers, dancers and families.
 
In an institution where 27 percent of its student body is represented internationally, NEC’s solution was able to support the growing demand of a more centralized communication system, allowing students to stay connected to campus community, friends and family globally without the restriction of the cellular phone access that is currently in place.
 
The system was designed to assist the school’s population with an array of options, from instant contact maintenance to immediate emergency services, event broadcasting and voicemail notification using digital signage technology.
 
According to the release, NEC made this possible by installing UNIVERGE NEAX 2000 IPS hybrid IP communications solution, CCIS campus networking, complete with INASET and SP-30 Soft Phone IP terminals, NEAXMailAD-64 unified messaging system and NEC's BlueFireVC digital signage solution.
 
"Our goal was to provide a customized, next-generation solution to meet the unique communication needs of Canada's most prestigious National Ballet School," said Don Stewart, vice president, NEC Unified Solutions, Canada. Now celebrating its 46th year, Canada's National Ballet School (NBS) is recognized as a world leader in the training of professional dancers and teachers.
