IP Phones Provider Expands Gigabit Series
By Tara Seals, Contributing Writer

The world is going ultra-fast, thanks to the ever-increasing buildouts of fiber that can deliver 1Gbps broadband—especially in the business environment. To get on-board with the zeitgeist, Grandstream Networks has released a new small business Gigabit IP phone.

The GXP1630 HD IP Phone (News - Alert) has three lines, can support three SIP accounts, has four-way conferencing, dual Gigabit network ports, integrated PoE and eight programmable speed dial/busy lamp field (BLF) keys.

Built for busy small business employees, it offers visual presence and line status of multiple extensions and the convenience of a one-touch button to call colleagues.

“Small businesses are doing more than ever before and, therefore, their communication needs have expanded beyond the basic IP phone,” said David Li (News - Alert), CEO of Grandstream Networks. “Grandstream aims to serve this growing market with innovative and competitive product solutions at affordable prices. The GXP1600 series is designed to support the wide variety of small business communication needs, and the addition of the GXP1630 allows businesses with mid-to-high level call volumes to benefit from feature-rich and reliable SIP communications products.”

The GXP1630 is the fifth model in Grandstream’s growing GXP1600 series of small business desktop IP phones. It joins the GXP1628, GXP1620/GXP1625and GXP1610, which all feature an updated hardware design with a larger graphic LCD display, greater acoustic performance and full interoperability with a large array of leading IP telephony platforms (such as Broadsoft, Metaswitch and Asterisk (News - Alert)/Elastix).

Each phone also has three XML programmable soft keys, Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) support for Plantronics headsets, support for 20 languages, full duplex speakerphone with advanced acoustic echo cancellation, dedicated buttons for intercom/paging and call recording, personalized music ring tone/ring back tone, integration with advanced Web/enterprise applications, and a large phonebook with up to 500 contacts and call history with up to 200 records.

The series is also meant to integrate with Grandstream’s UCM6xxx series IP PBX (News - Alert) appliance for unified communications. When aired together, the GXP1600 series phones provide secure zero-configuration provisioning for plug-n-play set-up as well as one-touch call recording and other advanced features.
