Obihai Technology is known for its development of voice adapters and IP phones. While its products may have uses as stand-alone devices, they are significantly improved when paired with extensive communications software packages. This is why Obihai has been working with BroadSoft (News - Alert) to complete compatibility testing. And, Obihai's recent announcement states its completion of that testing.

Specifically, Obihai says it has completed interoperability testing of its Service Provider product line with the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform, which provides businesses with control over voice-over-IP (VoIP) application delivery. What this means for businesses is they can connect all departments of their enterprises with the software and hardware offered by these two companies. Billing can use its own Obihai IP phones, for instance, to make calls to marketing, and the IT department can make sure all employees are connected through the BroadWorks interface.

The Obihai Service Provider line includes a number of devices, which includes the OBi3 Series Universal VoIP Adapters, OBi5vs Series Universal Adapters, and Obihai’s OBi1000 Series IP Phones. Steve Kaish (News - Alert), the vice president of business development at BroadSoft, left his remarks about the integration.

“By completing interoperability with our BroadWorks platform, Obihai offers service providers the option of using their leading Obihai IP phones, voice adapters, and additional products to enable UC One solutions,” Kaish said. “We are thrilled to extend the benefits of our unified communications services to BroadSoft end users.”

His excitement underscores the potential benefit that Obihai could receive from this conclusion of interoperability testing. Obihai is the clear winner here. Even with its own diverse product line already established, it will benefit greatly from attaching itself to BroadSoft – a company that has a global reach. BroadSoft is embedded in communities in many countries, so Obihai should be able to latch onto that grounding and make the most of it.

Where there is BroadSoft, there could be need for IP phones and other devices that work with the VoIP protocol. Businesses want products that work well together, and Obihai recently showed that its Service Provider line can meet that demand. For businesses in search of a package deal, this is one offer on the market that could show promise. Businesses can even take the package farther by making use of the BroadWorks API and OBiTALK API to create their own methods of using these IP devices within the office and offering custom communications products to their own consumer clients.
