The increasing presence of connected devices, along with growing demand for high-bandwidth and IP-based content, is forcing service providers to rethink their technology infrastructures to remain competitive. NTT Communications (News - Alert), the global data and IP services arm of NTT, Cisco, the enabler of Information technologies and Cyan, a provider of software defined network solutions, recently joined hands to provide 100G IP connectivity to all NANOG (News - Alert) 61 attendees.

The North American Network Operators Group (NANOG), is an association for Internet engineering and architecture professionals. NANOG 61 took place on June 2-4, 2014 and is said to have offered a great opportunity to all attendees to network with colleagues, freshen-up skills, learn advanced networking techniques, and discover new network applications.

"NTT Com is proud to be the connectivity provider of NANOG 61 and bring 100G IP connectivity to all NANOG 61 attendees," Michael Wheeler, executive vice president of NTT Communications' Global IP Network at NTT America (News - Alert), said in a statement.

The 100G connection was enabled by Cisco (News - Alert) ASR 9900 and 9904 routers and powered by Cisco's IOS(R) XR Network Operating System, as well as Cyan's Z-Series packet-optical hardware in combination with Cyan's Blue Planet platform.
