Voice over IP (VoIP) has been quickly taking over in the voice communications market for reasons such as its flexibility, ease of use, rich features, high quality and low cost. With the increase of today’s mobile workforce and overload of mobile devices, VoIP is the perfect solution to stay connected, regardless of location.
Until recently, customers on the National Broadband Network (News - Alert) (NBN), Australia's first national wholesale-only, open access communications network that is being built to bring high-speed broadband and telephone services within the reach of all Australian premises, who wanted to get a fixed voice service would have to use a VoIP service.
Internode, an internationally connected IP carrier, recently announced it is ready to offer voice services on the NBN following its service trial.
With Internode NBN Fibre Broadband, users have three choices for a residential VoIP service: the Internode Fibre Phone (News - Alert) service via the NBN, a special NodePhone VoIP plan or no phone service at all. The Internode Fibre Phone service costs $29.95 per month, with a flat fee of 18c for calls across Australia. A $49.95 set-up fee is waived if a customer signs up for a 24-month contract. Users keep using their current phone, the phone handset simply needs to be connected to the analogue phone jack on the NBN network termination device that installed in their house.
Calls are charged at Internode’s NodePhone VoIP calling rates.
The NodePhone plan is exclusive to Internode NBN customers, and has no setup fees and no monthly rental. This is an advanced phone service, including caller ID and a sophisticated voicemail system featuring the option of voicemail as e-mail at no additional cost.
Using NodePhone VoIP from Internode ensures a quality, reliable and hassle-free VoIP experience.
If users already have a suitable broadband router, they can simply add an IP phone to enable the NodePhone VoIP service. Internode offers the Gigaset C610 IP phone, which can make VoIP calls without a PC and can access up to six SIP accounts from different VoIP providers directly on the handset.
