VoX Communications' Mobile App Now Available for Samsung Android Devices
By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer

Cell phone bills have been the topic of some contention for some time now among many users. But their primary source of relief, the pay-as-you-go phone plan, has often proven less than ideal, providing users with lower-end phones as opposed to big-name smartphones with all the features they crave. VoX Mobile VoIP, meanwhile, may have just the solution thanks to the recent release of the VoX Mobile VoIP calling app on the Samsung (News - Alert) app store.

Thanks to this new release, Samsung mobile phone owners will be able to get in on VoX's "Pay and Go" calling plan, which requires no subscription for users to get in on, as well as a variety of other calling plans for users. There are several such plans available, with amounts ranging from just one dollar to top up the account, and vary by both price and offering. There are even some plans that offer international calling at surprisingly low rates. Users can sign up for VoX services entirely from their smartphone or tablet, making getting started with VoX easy to do.

The VoX app is approved for use on fully 71 different Samsung devices, so there's a very good chance that each individual user’s Samsung of choice will be on hand in the listings. Given that one out of every five smartphones sold in the United States is a Samsung Galaxy of some type, the chances improve greatly. The VoX app itself, meanwhile, was specifically tested to work with as many different Samsung devices as possible, which made it an excellent fit for the Samsung app store.

While mobile VoIP isn't always right for everyone--users are going to need access to some kind of data feed in order to actually use the service, whether it be a Wi-Fi signal in the area or access to at least a 3G connection--for those who are in the right frame of mind to use VoIP calling like that, the VoX Mobile service will likely win a lot of friends. Users that don't make a lot of calls in a typical month, those who use their cell phones as an emergency device alone, and similar low-volume users will likely appreciate the low-cost plans that don't require a lot of cash to keep them up. But high-volume users may well want to look elsewhere, like to Skype (News - Alert) plans.

There are a growing number of options when it comes to the care and feeding of smartphones, and so it's not really too surprising to see another one come into play from VoX Mobile. It's a big market, with lots of room for users of all stripes, so solutions specifically geared toward one niche or another will likely welcome those solutions enthusiastically. Whether VoX Mobile has chosen a niche of sufficient robustness to carry on in the field remains to be seen, but it would seem they have a very good chance indeed.
