IP phone maker Yealink is the latest brand to have been added to the Schmooze (News - Alert) Com Endpoint Manager to provide seamless integration with Asterisk PBX platforms. With this new integration, Endpoint Manager will allow Yealink phones to be quickly provisioned and configured directly from the PBX (News - Alert) admin GUI, according to a recent Schmooze Com blog.

Yealink (News - Alert) IP phones that are compatible with this integration include a number of devices in the company’s portfolio such as the VP-2009P, SIP-T38G, SIP-T32G, SIP-T28P, SIP-T26P, SIP-T22P, SIP-T20P and EXP39. Each phone provides a variety of IP telephony features customizable to the individual needs of the SMB or enterprise at hand.

In fact, in a recent review featured in Express Interconnect, a former user of the likes of Grandstream and Polycom IP phones, described the benefits of Asterisk (News - Alert) IP PBX integration with IP phone maker Yealink’s SIP-T38G desktop phone.

Looking for a reasonably priced, quality IP phone to offer to small businesses, the reviewer chose Yealink’s SIP-T38 for its 6 SIP accounts, ability to connect Expansion Modules, BLF lamps, Gigabit connectivity, etc.

The SIP-T38 offers an easy to navigate and responsive interface for the process of integrating with the Asterisk IP PBX, which eliminates constant reboot updates- a definite time-saver in the set up process.

According to the review, once the SIP account was set up, the Yealink phone recognized and registered to the Asterisk server immediately when typing in “SIP show peers” at the Asterisk CLI.

Two hardware features in particular that help the SIP T-38G stand out, include a dual-port for Gigabit Ethernet and a 4.3″ TFT Color Display making the T-38G a useful executive level phone.

The T-38 is also much more clearly refined with a larger and clearer color display that provides an intuitive user interface. It also includes a wide spectrum of HD offers such as HD voice, HD Codec, HD speaker and HD handset capabilities.

The Asterisk supported phone specifically includes dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and power over Ethernet capabilities as well as a 4.3” TFT-LCD utilizing 16.7M colors. It also offers a TI Aries chipset and TI voice engine along with six VoIP accounts, interoperable with BLF/BLA, IPv6 and Open VPN. The T38G also provides auto-provision via FTP/TFTP/HTTP/HTTPS and with PnP.
