snom Platinum Partner Deploys IP Phones, Microsoft Lync 2010 Enterprise Voice

By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor

For snom Platinum Partner, Zycko, the need to upgrade its communications system was essential for not only staying with the times, but keeping its IP communications running smoothly for its many European offices.

By replacing its legacy PBX system with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync, the company was able to supply VoIP and UC systems to resellers in Europe and the U.K. Of course, the system wasn’t complete without the proper IP phones, so the company tapped snom for its 821 UC edition IP phones.

The snom 821 comes equipped with an integrated 1-gigabit switch, and its main features include intuitive menu structures, five-way conferencing, caller ID, speed dial, call blocking, as well as host of other options.

It was an easy decision for Zycko, as its feature-rich capabilities combined with the ability to integrate with Microsoft Lync made it a rather attractive choice.

A main benefit of IP phones is the reduction of cost for IP telephone customers. Because IP technology relies on the Internet, rather than an expensive dedicated network, IP phone service providers can charge considerably lower prices than their traditional counterparts.

Because going IP offers the ability to be mobile, a user can move an IP phone from location to location, state to state or even to another country while still keeping the same telephone number and set of features.

With Zycko having offices in Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Norway, Sweden and Poland, being flexible regardless of location is the key to success.

Advantages of using IP phones are plenty, as IP phones allow users to place calls on hold and pick up from anywhere else with an Internet connection, as well as transfer a call to a telephone on another network, and even deliver voicemail messages via e-mail.

With the snom many IP phone features plus Microsoft Lync inregration, Zycko plans to scale to 350 snom UC edition phones in the coming months.
