Huawei IP-PBX's Interoperability with Microsoft Lync Improves Collaboration

IP-PBX (News - Alert) allows the delivery of voice or video over a data network while interoperating with a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). When combined with Microsoft Lync Server, IP-PBX delivers enhanced unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) capabilities to users.

To deliver these benefits to customers, Huawei (News - Alert) has completed interoperability testing between its IP PBX solution with Microsoft Lync. The combination will enrich the service offerings for UC customers and deliver better service experience, according to company officials.

“The successful interconnection between Huawei's IP-PBX and Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync showcases the excellent features of Huawei's UC products on convergence and openness, and further enhances the joint competitiveness of Huawei and Lync,” said Yi Zhiquan, general manager of Huawei's UC products.

During interoperability testing, the Huawei eSpace U1930 gateway was used as the IP-PBX to interconnect with Microsoft Lync Server 2010. The successful interoperability confirms the device’s ability to deliver a wider range of UC services to users.

The interoperability also facilitates the access of Lync to PSTN. Because the service is compatible with the existing telephone system, customers need not make additional investments. Users can also use Huawei's IP-PBX to join Lync conferences, which allows communication and exchange to significantly improve work efficiency.

"Going forward, both Huawei and Microsoft aim to strengthen the cooperation in UC, Contact Center (CC), TelePresence (TP) and VC (Video Conference), and to showcase the joint solutions of Huawei and Microsoft at the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC),” Zhiquan added. “Huawei looks forward to partnering on more joint innovation projects with Microsoft technology to help customers in the global enterprise market.”

According to a recent report from Visiongain (News - Alert), Huawei’s worldwide revenue will reach $35.9 billion in 2012. Huawei has the products, solutions and expertise to be a global leader in the telecoms space, yet several factors have converged to halt the company's expansion in key geographical regions.
