U.K.’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is using Interwise’s Connect conferencing platform as the backbone for its Knowledge Transfer Networks program, an initiative designed to help businesses find the resources and expertise they need to succeed.
In a press release, the U.K. government agency explained that so far £17 million per annum has been allocated to establish and manage 19 Knowledge Transfer networks.
Those networks are designed to support businesses investing in new and emerging technologies by promoting collaboration, best practice and knowledge sharing between businesses, government, research institutes, venture capital firms, universities, industry groups, and law firms.
DTI’s goal is to connect collaborators who are physically located across globe. Network members can identify other members with specific expertise or interests, and search for relevant materials. A combination of ad hoc voice conferences and web meetings, formal virtual classes, and large web seminars can then be used to work collaboratively.
Interwise’s conferencing platform makes it possible to record, index and store meetings as “content” for members to review. Audio tracks of meetings and events also can be searched for relevant topics.
