Talari Appliance Enables Third-Party Service Chaining

Talari Networks (News - Alert) unveiled a new SD-WAN appliance. It’s called the E1000, and it allows for the service chaining of hosted third-party applications.

“Typically building a service chain to support a new application takes considerable cost, time and effort, requiring specialized, individually configured network devices, which had to be manually connected in the required services sequence,” said Atchison Frazer, head of worldwide marketing at Talari Networks. “Talari transforms both the WAN and branch infrastructure, with centralized orchestration that makes service chaining and application provisioning significantly less expensive, faster and easier: E1000 is a true multi-service edge-function.”

This new offering can deliver full duplex performance of up to 2 gigabits per second. It’s a modular chassis with expansion cards. Firewall, NAT, VPN concentrator, and WAN optimization functionality are delivered as integrated features. And high availability features include configurable dual Fail-to-Wire or Fail-to-Block pairs, and serial and parallel HA deployments.

E1000 can be used by businesses with medium to large branch offices to connect to cloud and enterprise data. And it helps them scale their SD-WAN deployments.

SD-WAN technology creates an overlay on top of a company’s existing connections. That may include broadband DSL lines, dedicated lines, LTE (News - Alert), MPLS, VSAT, or other connectivity options. What SD-WAN brings to the table is the ability to leverage any connect at any time, to have better performance and survivability as a result, to avoid being locked in to one particular connection supplier or type, and to have greater visibility into all of the above.

You can learn more about this technology and its many benefits at the upcoming SD-WAN Expo. It will take place Feb. 14 through 16 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

This event will feature the following sessions:
