Software-defined solutions are surging, as there is no shortage in SD-WAN news of late. The space is rapidly expanding, and the lofty predictions for the market of recent may not be as far-fetched as some once thought. Innovation continues to stand in the spotlight, as the benefits of this nascent technology are well known, and with digital transformation taking over this adolescent market is quickly making its way to maturity.

Today, Versa Networks revealed how it is moving beyond the notion of SD-WAN to create an SD-Branch. Versa upgraded the Versa Cloud IP Platform to empower service providers and enterprises to virtualize the WAN and branch, offering new levels of agility while keeping complexity to a minimum.

The reality of networking in the enterprise is simple, with the cloud’s growing popularity and our SaaSy business climate current WANS utilizing a centrally secured access point to the Internet, powering several branch appliances can’t keep up with the digital climate, change and demand.

Expanding the Versa Cloud IP Platform’s arsenal of IP services opens the door to new levels of performance, supporting the current cloud era. New additions to the platform include embedded LTE (News - Alert), Integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet switching support, the ability to host third-party virtual network functions and multi-vector malware to ensure security from threats.

“SD-WAN provides hybrid WAN capabilities and reduces bandwidth costs only. It does not solve the full challenge of cost, complexity and lack of agility for the entire branch. At Versa, we saw this as an opportunity and have innovated to deliver an agile and secure software-based infrastructure for the whole branch office as well as the WAN,” said Kelly Ahuja, CEO of Versa Networks. “The result enables enterprises, and their managed service providers, to further remove the WAN/branch barrier to digital transformation and cloud adoption with a multi-service software platform that reduces branch sprawl, infrastructure complexity and interdependencies.”

It is no longer a question of if, but when are you moving your WAN in a software-defined direction. It’s not your dad’s network anymore; software is paving the wave to the next generation of solutions and high performance. From the branch to the home office, the conference room to the c-suite, change is abound.

Ready for the next generation in WAN?
