Cypress Communications Selected as one of Atlanta's 'Best Places to Work'

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Hosted VoIP solutions provider Cypress Communications (News - Alert) has been selected as one of Atlanta’s “Best Places to Work” in a survey conducted by Atlanta magazine. The company ranked #17 in a list of 40 best workplaces.

Cypress, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, provides Communications as a Service (CaaS) to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). Cypress’ flagship solution, C4 IP, won five recent awards for product innovation made possible by the hard work and commitment of its employees.

“This is an exciting time to be at Cypress Communications,” said  Steve Schilling, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement. “There’s an electrifying current of innovation and a collaborative spirit that just can’t be beat. Our employees are instrumental in our success-their dedication to work, commitment to our customers and drive to succeed are like none other. It is a truly gratifying experience to be surrounded by such a phenomenal group of people.”

The question Atlanta magazine asked employees from all over the city was, “Do you love your job?” The employees at Cypress answered with a resounding “Yes.”. They also nominated the company and ranked it on topics such as compensation and professional development. The best workplaces list was calculated using employee nominations and survey responses.

Atlanta magazine first requested nominations through their Web site in order to begin the compilation of the list. One hundred and seventy-six workplaces around Atlanta were nominated by roughly 700 employees, who ranked the validity of twenty statements to determine their level of job satisfaction. The list was narrowed down to 100 from 176 by averaging the scores. A total of 5201 employees participated in the ranking of statements on a variety of topics. The results where then averaged and combined with the points earned through the profile form to select the top 40.

“What is common across all these companies is attention to employee welfare and creating an environment where people feel invested in their jobs,” said  Rebecca Burns, editor in chief of Atlanta magazine. “Our survey is unique because nominations came from employees, not management. That’s a testament to how successful those forty employers are at generating workplaces people love.”
