ClearOne Named One of Utah's Top Public Companies

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

HD conferencing solutions provider ClearOne (News - Alert) has been named one of Utah's top public companies by Utah Business Magazine.

ClearOne, which develops and sells audio conferencing systems and other related products for audio, video, and web conferencing applications, was ranked number 20 in the magazine’s annual Top 40 Public Companies list, published in the July issue. Companies that made the list were selected based on revenue.

"We are honored to be recognized by Utah Business Magazine as one of Utah's top public companies," said Zee Hakimoglu, president, CEO and chairman of ClearOne, in a release. “We are particularly pleased to be recognized in a state that has been ranked as the #1 state having the most dynamic economy by the Kauffman 2008 State New Economy Index. In addition, Utah was ranked #1 in inventor patents, #3 in fastest growing firms, and #6 in venture capital."

Hakimoglu said he expects ClearOne’s  conferencing products “to become an even more appealing option for businesses looking to offset the effects of rising energy costs, their carbon footprint, and the expense and inconvenience of airline travel."

Indeed, the audio, video and Web conferencing markets are booming, due mainly to the fact that companies everywhere are slashing their travel budgets. Instead, many of them are turning to conferencing to facilitate live meetings between partners, customers and prospects.

What’s more, many companies are finding conferencing useful for internal communications: With audio conferencing products such as those made by ClearOne, teams of workers or individual employees can quickly and easily communicate and collaborate en masse and “on the fly.” The company also makes portable, hands-free speakerphones which are ideal for business travelers. In particular, conferencing is gaining considerable traction in organizations which have multiple, geographically-dispersed locations (such as branch offices or separate divisions or departments). With so many companies going global these days, the need for fast and convenient communications across disparate locations has never been greater.

“Our products are used by thousands of businesses worldwide from small enterprises to the Fortune 100, as well as domestic and international governments and educational institutions,” Hakimoglu said. “This confirms that the recognized audio quality of ClearOne products, the quality of our support to our customers and channel partners, and our broad product offering continues to differentiate us from our competitors."

The news follows ClearOne’s announcement two weeks ago that it has been named one of America's fastest growing small public companies by Fortune Small Business magazine. In its annual FSB 100 list, Fortune Small Business ranks ClearOne at number 82. To qualify, firms must be U.S.-based with annual revenues of less than $200 million and a stock price greater than $1. They are ranked based on their three-year annualized rates of revenue growth and total return to investors. The overall rank is based on the sum of the two ranks.

ClearOne's award-winning products enable high definition audio conferencing and are frequently used in combination with video conferencing systems. The company makes high quality audio conferencing systems that make use of full duplex and advanced noise cancelling technologies to improve sound quality. This includes the company’s CHAT 70 and CHAT 170 audio conferencing systems, which are exclusively designed for use with Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communicator 2007.

ClearOne, which sponsors the HD Conference channel on TMCnet, is a certified member of the Microsoft Partner Program and it recently exhibited its solutions at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference.
