Voice Assist (News - Alert) has released a safe driving app for Android, utilizing voice commands. Android users will now be able to send e-mails, text, post to their favorite social media like Twitter / Facebook (News - Alert), or simply make a call while keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
Is it the right priority? “Telling people not to use a cell phone is almost like saying, ‘Don’t breathe,’” said Voice Assist CEO, Michael Metcalf. “Given that Americans are addicted to Web access and tech toys, it will never work to simply ban them. So we’ve figured out how we make people safer and allow them to talk like they’re talking to a passenger, making it safer and more useful.
“While you can use the Voice Assist service from any phone, our new Android (News - Alert) app makes the service even easier to use by integrating with the Android address book and providing one tap access,” said Metcalf.
Users can download their Driving App at Google play.
Voice Assist is an award-winning provider of mobile speech solutions, combining speech technology with internet-based information on a world-class telecommunications network that facilitates speech-driven services that are user friendly, safe and can be connected to any device – mobile phones, PC’c, landlines, Internet radio, IPTV’s (News - Alert) or in-dash automotive systems.
More recently, Voice Assist has filed a patent application for its Next Generation Home Phone Service.
“Now we plan to reinvent what happens when consumers dial zero from their home phone,” said Metcalf.
This makes nine patents pending for the Voice Assist. Other patents include search for music by voice, voice dialing of contacts in an address book with continuous updates, hands-free two-way texting, click-to-call virtual assistant, and hands-free radio.
