Backupify, a company specializing in online backup services for cloud application data, announced that it’s Backup for Google (News - Alert) Apps product now supports local and cloud-based files stored on Google Drive.
Backup is an important part of IT best practices. The use of an independent backup system protects data from hacking, user error, malicious deletion, and other forms of data loss. Backupify's (News - Alert) support for Google Drive provides users with the assurance that documents shared with others are protected from accidental deletion and other forms of data loss. For users who move all files to Google Drive, Backupify creates a single backup for both their Google Docs and local files synced with Google Drive.
"We're excited to see Google find new ways to help people live, work and collaborate in the cloud." Rob May, chief executive officer at Backupify, said in a press release.
"Organizations that move critical business data into Google Drive can now use Backupify to maintain a secure second copy and extend their on-premise security practices to the cloud with confidence." May added.
As indicated, the Google Drive backup solution is the most recent addition to Backupify's existing services that already includes secure backup for Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Contacts and more.
Backupify emphasized, in its statement, that its support for Google Drive is available at no extra cost.
Backupify recently launched new version of Backupify Snapshot, a simple, powerful tool for IT administrators to extract and download a complete Google Apps account for any user on their domain. With Snapshot, administrators can establish the same workflows and controls in the cloud that they had with their on-premise software deployments.
