FoIP Pieces in the IT Puzzle

By Max Schroeder, SVP

The term “True 21st Century Fax” covers a very small segment of the fax server industry defined by companies that use 21st century tools to integrate with other 21st century technologies. FaxCore’s (News - Alert) product line has always been a forerunner in this segment as evidenced by the list of features displayed in a 2008 TMC Channel Article

Partial Features List -

  • Built on Microsoft .NET (News - Alert) Framework   (now .NET 4.0)
  • Integration with all versions of Exchange standard (now includes 2010)
  • Runs on Microsoft Server 2003 (now 2008 R2)
  • SQL Server 2005 or SQL Express (now 2008)
  • Web Services SDK Standard (updated for .NET 4.0)
  • SharePoint Server 2007 Native Integration
  • Web-based GUIs  (updated to support lasted browsers)

As the economic downturn of 2008 began, customer’s appreciation the long list of standard, no-additional-cost features built into the product grew even greater.  A few fax server vendors offered some of these features but charged extra for most of the options. FaxCore’s Authorized Resellers helped lessen the impact of the downturn for FaxCore customers by providing in depth assistance on how to use fax to streamline operations to further reduce operating expenses.

FaxCore also lead the way in business continuity (BC) by incorporating many key continuity features and promoting BC by providing free application and channels licenses for customers with true disaster recovery (DR) sites. Leveraging virtualization and other “Green” attributes of FaxCore amplified customer savings even more.

Although times have changed somewhat, the features that garnered FaxCore the early awards continue to be very relevant and allow FaxCore customers to realize significant savings. FaxCore, however,  has never been a company accustomed to sitting on its laurels and with the release of the latest award-winning version, FaxCore Evolution eV5,  FaxCore continues to lead the industry in innovative fax server products.

Since a fax server application remains a critical piece of an organization’s IT Puzzle. What an enterprise really needs today is a fax-centric solution that focuses on speeding up critical fax traffic while making it easier to manage faxing.   Without this piece, the puzzle will never be fully complete. Of course, technology is constantly changing so an organization’s fax solution needs to keep pace. This is one area where investing in the latest technology is definitely a money-saving opportunity, if the proper choices are made. Staying with a product that has proven itself best-of-breed over time is the best way of ensuring a combination of innovative features and reliability. As FaxCore’s president likes to say, "When You Buy FaxCore You Are Buying a Piece of the Future".
