ERP Software Helping Your HR Department Focus on What's Important

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Web Editor

As TMC (News - Alert) once reported, Denise O’Berry, SMB blogger and author of Small Business Cash Flow: Strategies for Making Your Business a Financial Success, said, “Building relationships is a matter of give and take….” Human Resources is a fundamental part in building relationships within every successful enterprise. As information is received by this department, it requires follow-up and correct evaluation for the professional development and the social welfare of an organization’s workers.

It is essential to keep in mind the needs and wants of the customer, and in this case an organization’s employees, as they are to be considered internal customers. Because of the large quantity of information that is handled in an HR Department, the job is becoming more difficult. Tools, such as ERP software, are necessary for managers and the Human Resource Department to maintain the best possible relationships with its internal customers.

An organization’s success is based greatly on its ability to attract, develop and keep essential employees, and therefore, a system and optimal process to manage these employees is a necessity to an organization’s success as well.

ERP software gives organizations the ability to implement a system that will facilitate in centralized control and decentralized operation, allowing the HR Department to focus on the strategic responsibilities, such as planning professional development programs. The implementation of ERP software contributes to the automation of processes, leaving resources free to develop tasks of strategic importance and able to listen to the voice of the customer.

ERP software provides an integrated solution to help with planning, the administration of payroll, professional development, work health and administration in general. It is also useful for decision making, analysis, all-embracing management and control reporting. Internal communication is also an indispensable part of HR Department’s daily tasks, in which ERP software can also provide a solution. The suggestions box, opinion surveys, virtual welcome, business calendar, letters of appointment, news, and forums are some of the features that will be unified in an ERP system.

With all departments and customers of one’s organization benefitting from the implementation of ERP software, it is no surprise that research firm, Gartner, published the results of a study, indicating that sales of business management software like enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is set to witness remarkable increase.

The new analysis report published by Gartner (News - Alert) highlights the fact that across the globe ERP software revenue will soon shoot upwards to $253.7 billion. This is an increase of 7.5 percent when compared to that of 2010.
