Qualys (News - Alert) has long been considered one of the top performers in the enterprise cloud-based security field. Recently, the firm announced it has received full certification from ServiceNow for its application that deals with Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs) In order to gain this certification, the Qualys App for CMDB it had to pass a number of defined tests that are all focused on integration, interoperability, security and performance. This particular certification means that a set of best practices will be used in the operation of this application.

When it comes to the features of the application itself, the Qualys App for ServiceNow (News - Alert) CMDB is able to synchronize the Qaulys IT assets discovery and classification. The application is able to pull this off thanks in large part to the ServiceNow Configuration Management System. The application works to automatically update the ServiceNow CMDB whenever there are any assets that are discovered by Qualys.

The application also gives up to the minute information on any existing assets that might have had their status change for any reason. This means that ServiceNow users are able to get a good hard look at any of their Global IT assets around the clock and on an ongoing basis.

"Until now, gathering up-to-date information on our known and unknown global IT assets has been a real challenge. The unique discovery and classification capabilities of Qualys, combined with the integration and synchronization with our ServiceNow CMDB, gives us real-time continuous visibility," according to a joint Qualys and ServiceNow customer leading the global information services industry that partook in the announcement of the full certification.

Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO for Qualys, Inc recently said in a statement about the move that one of the key ingredients in securing corporate infrastructures is to have a handle one where IT assets are at any given time. He added that you can’t secure what you don’t know and it’s always easier to keep things safe when they are within arm’s reach. The Qualys App for ServiceNow CMDB application is available for download now through the ServiceNow store.
