AudioCodes Customers Connect Microsoft UC Environment to SIP Trunking Services

By Hans Lewis, TMCnet Contributor

AudioCodes (News - Alert) achieved interoperability qualification for its Mediant 3000 and Mediant 1000 Enterprise Session Border Controllers with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and Microsoft Office Communications Server R2, when used in conjunction with Verizon (News - Alert) Business' SIP Trunking service. The qualification testing was conducted by tekVizion Labs, Microsoft's Unified Communication Open Interoperability Program (UC OIP) testing partner.

In a press release, Nimrod Borovsky, vice president of marketing at AudioCodes, said, "We are happy to announce another milestone in our roadmap to enable ubiquitous connectivity for Microsoft UC networks. Our Mediant family of VoIP platforms has been key to our success in delivering secure and interoperable connectivity solutions for the Microsoft environment. Enterprises can safely use our products to create a fully connected Microsoft world, supporting the evolution from TDM PBXs and PSTN networks, to IP systems and SIP Trunking services."

By using the AudioCodes' Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBC), enterprise customers can securely connect their Microsoft Unified Communications (News - Alert) environment to Verizon Business' SIP trunking services, as well as to other SIP trunking service providers worldwide. The tekVizion certification confirms interoperability and feature transparency between the Microsoft system and the SIP trunking service.

With AudioCodes Mediant platforms, customers can support PSTN and SIP Trunk interfaces in the same box, preventing forklift upgrades, and enabling gradual migration from costly PSTN circuits to SIP Trunking services, providing security and interoperability.

AudioCodes' Mediant 1000 platform is a flexible networking device, supporting a number of services for the Microsoft UC environment. The Mediant 1000 can simultaneously connect the Microsoft Lync 2010 server, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 into existing TDM PBXs, IP-PBXs or PSTN services, as well as into SIP Trunking services.

In addition, it can be configured as a standalone "Basic" or "Enhanced" gateway, as well as a "Basic Hybrid Gateway (News - Alert)" or "Survivable Branch Appliance,” integrating Microsoft software inside. It can be ordered as a TDM-to-IP gateway, a Multi-Service Business Gateway, an Enterprise Session Border Controller, or a combination of the three, supporting up to 120 TDM-to-IP channels and 150 SBC sessions.

AudioCodes' Mediant 3000 platform is an enterprise-class, high density, fault tolerant Media Gateway and Session Border Controller. It supports redundant configurations of up to 2016 TDM-to-IP and 1000 SBC sessions, enabling TDM and IP connectivity for large enterprise' Microsoft UC environments.
