Thrupoint Emphasizes Enterprise Mobility and FMC Offerings at ITEXPO West

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

When Paula Bernier (News - Alert), executive editor at TMC, had the chance to interview David Jodoin, chief strategy officer at Thrupoint, last month at ITEXPO West in Austin, Texas, Jodoin made sure to hone in on the company’s main focuses, which include enterprise mobility and fixed mobile convergence solutions.

Thrupoint provides a deeper look into enterprise mobility solutions for its customers that consist of large-scale enterprises and carriers who resell hosted solutions to SMBs and enterprises alike.

According to Jodoin, the company has a longstanding history of working with large enterprise companies since it was founded in 1996. He credits Thrupoint’s success today to the experience the company has gained in working alongside enterprises with complex networks that require stringent barriers to security and how they allow data to transport through their data networks.

“We found there was a gap in the industry for enterprise mobility solutions, especially with the consumerization of IT,” Jodoin told Bernier. He specifically mentioned people with iPhones, iPads and Android (News - Alert)-based tablets and how these devices can be securely connected with large enterprises in a way that can comply with IT policies.

Jodoin added that very often, in order to do this, IT either restricts those types of solutions, refusing to bring them into the network, or they don’t allow people to use the devices at all, which can lead to employees having to carry two devices for their personal and business use.

“What we allow is the ability for users to bring their consumerized IT devices, their devices of preference, into the enterprise which allows the IT department to embrace those devices by securely downloading applications and enabling the enterprise app store to communicate through that secure firewall in a very effective manner,” he said.

Thrupoint’s Ubiquity Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Suite allows businesses to connect to the enterprise from WiFi (News - Alert) or carrier networks. Thrupoint's solution provides use for iPhone and Android clients as well as the first SIP-based client on BlackBerry (News - Alert) devices, which delivers one solution to extend corporate voice services in a consistent manner across multiple mobile platforms.

The fixed mobile convergence technologies offered by Thrupoint allow these devices to be leveraged to maximize their capabilities, reduce overall telecommunications costs by keeping more calls on the IP network, and provide the necessary level of security communications companies have become accustomed to with traditional platforms.
