Email Server Services Open to SMBs

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

Small- and medium-sized businesses have come a long way. As the ongoing battles between the Davids and the Goliaths of the world continue, SMBs too, are using the very same IP communications tools larger competitors have long been accustomed to – in fact, had the exclusive rights to.

SMBs are now taking advantage of technologies such as anti-virus protection and data storage, solutions once reserved for large enterprises, to keep their businesses operating smoothly. This is just another example of the growth of the IT communications industry.

“Ipswitch (News - Alert) has always been focused on breaking down barriers,” Ipswitch CEO Roger Greene said during the company’s 15th anniversary. “SMB technology solutions must solve a business need with minimal overhead.  Small business IT staff don’t have the time to take classes, study manuals or decipher cryptic user interfaces.  Our products and our people are committed to providing valuable, affordable and eminently usable solutions for sharing information and solving problems.”

For businesses today, whether large or small, it’s vital that data and information is stored securely and appropriately. The small and medium-sized business market understands the benefits of data storage and email archiving, but may be turned off by the high cost to implement those services.

But good service doesn’t always have to be costly.

Take Ipswitch Inc., for example. The Lexington, Mass.-based software company offers a range of options well-suited for businesses of all sizes.

In addition, the Ipswitch IMail Server is well-suited for businesses that want to run an email system in-house, Brad Senter, marketing manager of the messaging division for Ipswitch, told TMCnet in an interview. Recently, the company launched its new IMail Server Premium Security Bundle, which offers additional security and monitoring features for companies.

“The Security Bundle meets the needs of small to mid-sized businesses by providing secure, powerful and straight-forward messaging capabilities with multiple layers of protection,” Senter said. “IMail Server Premium Security Bundle combines the ease-of-use and reliability included in IMail Server with IMail Anti-Virus powered by Symantec (News - Alert) and the industry's leading premium anti-spam technology from Commtouch.”
