Business Luminaries to Exchange Views at Asia's Foremost Conference Event for the Global ICT Industry

The global ICT industry is undergoing phenomenal change as global operators make their presence felt through continuous innovation, providing consumers with more choices that are better and faster. Speaking in Asia for the first time, Josh Silverman, CEO of leading global Internet protocol-based communications company, Skype (News - Alert), will deliver the visionary address to kick-off the Summit, set for 15 - 18 June at the Singapore Expo.

Silverman's address is set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing communications landscape, and evolving consumer needs - as he shares examples of disruptive innovations and his vision on the future of communications.

Skype will also be exhibiting for the first time at CommunicAsia2010.

"Societies win when innovation thrives and consumers have a choice. With over half a billion registered users worldwide, Skype is redefining the way people communicate," said Dan Neary, vice president & general manager for Skype Asia Pacific.

"Our participation in CommunicAsia underlines Skype's continued commitment to Asia, with the event providing a targeted platform to showcase some of these innovative ideas and solutions that bring to life our vision of enabling the world's conversations."

"This is just one of many smart moves by CommunicAsia. They also have had a 3/4 page Ad in TMC's INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine for five months prior to the 2009 and 2010 events. I'd like to see more companies exhibiting at CommunicAsia choosing to exhibit at ITEXPO West in L.A. this October," said Suzanne Bowen, vice president of DIDXchange, who is also exhibiting.

Let me say also that there a good mix of companies from the East and West exhibiting such as Metaswitch Networks, Yeil Electronics, Nexus Telecom, Techistan, Mera Systems, Speedflow Communications, MOA Digital Powerline Communication, Kingsoft, Adtran, Huawei, NTT, Docomo, Blackberry, Raytheon, and over 450 more.  Daily, new exhibitors are being added. It's not too late to sign up your company," Bowen said.

Fostering Dialogue on Topical Industry Themes

Business and industry leaders will once again converge at the CommunicAsia2010 Summit to discuss the present and debate the future of communications. The four-day Summit, comprising over 10 sessions of dedicated conferences and workshops, will foster dialogue amongst global business, industry, and government leaders, and deliver executive insights and market analysis on the many exciting ICT developments covering the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

New tracks such as Cloud Computing, Mobile Value Added Services, Converged Device Management and Network Security, and new workshops on Mobile Marketing and Green ICT will be introduced to raise current topics and effervescent issues, and share industry know-how and key tactics that can help ICT players increase profitability and reduce cost.

"With the positive outlook ahead, the ICT industry has begun to move rapidly with many new developments such as next generation broadband, new technologies and applications," said Ms. Lindy Wee, director of PR and Conferences from event organizer, Singapore Exhibition Services. "Augmented with new conference tracks the CommunicAsia2010 Summit is designed to offer expert insights and provide opportunities for business networking."

Stellar Line-Up of Conference Tracks and Speakers

With the smartphone revolution in the mobile handset market, more and more enterprises have recognized that the smartphone is the essential tool to improving productivity, accessibility and responsiveness in today's economic environment. The "Converged Device Management" track will address this latest trend. Gregory Wade, Managing Director of Southeast Asia from Research in Motion (News - Alert) "RIM" will offer his view on solutions for major areas of concern for the handy smartphone such as control, cost and security.

Amrish Kacker, partner and head of Asia Pacific for Analysys (News - Alert) Mason will talk about the untapped potential of smartphones in the region and the lucrative mobile applications scene at the "Mobile Value Added Services" track.

The global mobile advertising space is estimated to grow nearly nine-fold in the next three years to US$17 billion. Global mobile users currently number more than four billion, representing a huge market for advertisers to tap into. Rohit Dadwal, managing director of the Mobile Marketing Association in Asia Pacific, will open the "Mobile Marketing & Advertising" track with an overview of the recent developments that contribute to shaping this emergent industry. Under the same track, Venkat Eswara, Director of Applications Services Marketing (Home & Networks Mobility) from Motorola Asia Pacific, will drive the discussion on how the adoption of 3G and 4G mobile devices are to successful marketing campaign strategies.

Next Generation Networks (NGN) are rapidly becoming a reality with billions being invested by both public and private sectors to bridge the digital divide. The "Next Generation Fixed Broadband" track is dedicated to surface issues that particularly affect fixed broadband and debate about how best to facilitate optimal access to such networks. Bill Barney, CEO of Pacnet (News - Alert), will explain how Asia is all set to lead the race for broadband with new submarine cable networks during this session.

The challenges facing mobile broadband, with the onset of new technologies triggering a surge in user expectations and demands, will be analyzed during the "Next Generation Mobile Broadband" session. Hung Song, VP of Samsung Electronics, will highlight industry's developments and update on Samsung's progress on the 4G roadmap. Nathan Burley, Analyst from Ovum, will front a discussion on the hype and misconceptions surrounding LTE (News - Alert) (Long Term Evolution) as the next standard for future next-generation mobile broadband services.

The ITU has termed the 'true' 4G as IMT-Advanced. This next generation of technologies has been specially formulated by ITU to satisfy the future needs of the marketplace, and a submission of proposals for candidate radio interface technologies was opened in March 2008. The result will be released at an ITU-R meeting to be held in June 2010 and will be presented publicly for the first time at the CommunicAsia2010 Summit's Mobile Broadband Special Session. Proponents of the major candidate technologies - Takehiro Nakamura, Chairman of 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), and Dr. Roger Marks, Chair of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) - will be participating in this special session to speak about IMT-Advanced and its impact on the future of mobile broadband.

A new forum has been created to address the topic of convergence. Titled "New Communications & Broadcast World", this session is designed to spearhead interactive, intellectual dialogue on the stakes and challenges, business models and revenue opportunities arising from the converging worlds of telecommunications and broadcasting.

Dedicated Workshops

On June 17, Michael Becker, Managing Director of Mobile Marketing Association, North America, will lead the "Mobile Marketing Workshop" aimed at addressing three areas of mobile marketing (direct, multi-channel and product) and the application of mobile commerce and advertising.

Laina Greene, CEO of consultancy firm GETIT, will be leading the new "Profitability and New Revenue Opportunities With "Green" Workshop" on June 18. The workshop will present success stories on implementing green IT, complete with the operational "nuts and bolts". The session challenges participants to look at "how" to go green rather than "why".
