During a recent
podcast interview, Steven Johnson, president of Ingate Systems, defended being up at five o'clock in the morning at the 2009 ITEXPO (News - Alert) East in Miami Beach with the fact that 'because my boss is in Sweden, so he’s about six hours ahead of us here in the East Coast. At 5:30 in the morning, it’s almost lunch time there.'
Here's hoping Steven can get enough sleep at ITEXPO this year, where Ingate is sponsoring the SIP Trunking seminar at the show.
Podcast moderator Suzanne Bowen noted that the seminar is complimentary and 'full of demos, lectures, discussions, interactions, and more' from about a dozen vendors: 'There is even a SIP Trunking Boot Camp.'
According to Johnson, it's their seventh year doing it, and 'each time, it is different. We want the information fresh. We’ve added new participants who bring a different perspectives to the event. We have encouraged our partners to bring in various companies who have implemented SIP in some way. These are case studies.'
It's Johnson's view that now that SIP trunking 'is becoming a reality for many enterprises, we think it is a good idea to bring people together who have actually done it to share their road map.'
The case studies, he said, is 'the big thing. We will show three cases where we will show how a particular PBX can be connected through an Ingate device and onto a service provider and how that can be easily accomplished.'
Avaya, ShoreTel (News - Alert), and Digium Asterisk will also demonstrate getting their systems connected from the front end of our conference room and make calls back to somebody in the audience, Johnson explained: 'This will demonstrate how easily this is done and the good quality available.'
As far as the boot camp goes, Drill Sgt. Johnson said, 'that is an all day event on Friday where we will show how to set up an Ingate unit. We will provide a free training to show how to use the unit as an interface to a SIP trunking provider.'
Also at ITEXPO, recently elected SIP Forum Chairman of the Board Richard Shockey (News - Alert) will also address attendees of the co-located Smart Grid Summit and Machine-to-Machine Evolution Conference about the opportunities for SIP in the convergence of utility and communications networks and the development of the worldwide communications network of machines.
