DIDX Highlights 2009, Plans for the New Year

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

DIDXchange (News - Alert), a Pensacola, Florida-based company and a registered and patented service of Super Technologies, Inc. has had quite a year – filling news headlines with partnerships, interoperability announcements and special offers.

The company provides Direct Inward Dialing or “DID” phone numbers to IP communications companies.

Through the company’s online trading floor, ISTPs can sell and buy DID numbers – putting users in the ‘drivers seat’ when choosing DIDs.

I took some time recently to chat with Suzanne Bowen, vice president of Marketing for Super Technologies (News - Alert), DIDX and Techistan.net about the company’s achievements in 2009 and their plans for the upcoming year.

Our exchange follows:

Looking back at 2009, can you highlight some of the most important advancements or trends that emerged in the market you serve?  What were the key trends that impacted your business?

The market we serve includes mixes and mash-ups of U.S. and international CLECs, wired and wireless carriers and operators, and entrepreneurs and SMBs who leverage wholesale IP communications. Because of open source telephony, SIP, social networking tools and even our DID peer-to-peer platform, the lines have blurred as to exactly how to categorize our market.

What were your company’s biggest achievements/ announcements in the past year?

The biggest non-profit collaborative success in 2009 was an Asterisk supported telethon with DIDX member volunteers TeamForrest and Fred Posner, Comtel-Networks and Max Glucksmann and entrepreneur/consultant Paul Deane for Linking Arms, Inc. a non-profit in Pensacola, Florida.

Other successes include our popular DIDX podcast channel with IP communications celebrities, inventors, developers, and experts showcased and our new multi-media online magazine Techistan.

Also, our DIDXchange is now offering DID’s in over 60 countries.

All of these non-profit and revenue-generating accomplishments are a result of collaboration among our team of employees, our clients, and our suppliers, who are all based in 170 nations.

Looking back at 2009, how would you characterize the year for your company?

Fast-paced. We can thank groups, social business networking, and events such as TMC, CudaTel, Digium, CommunicAsia, ITEXPO, CTIA (News - Alert), Twitter, Facebook, TelecomYou, and The SIP School for that. Through these venues and entities we were able to complete interoperability with several popular service providers such as PortaOne, Brekeke (News - Alert), VoipSwitch, IPSmarx, Vocati Communications and thousands more.

We started this year in an economic recession, it seems like we're now pulling out of that, what are your thoughts?

The recession forced us to think out of the box on how to help our clients and suppliers on DIDX to get more out of business collaborations with us. We were already showcasing our partners at conferences via video interviews and photo galleries. We evolved from there to start the new and popular Techistan.net and our DIDX podcast channel at didx.net/podcast - complimentary marketing tools we offer each active DIDX member. Our company, Super Technologies Inc., never felt any financial pinch and I think it was because we are always too busy serving our customers and making a better solution than to pay attention to the dark message of the media.

What are you planning for 2010?

Techistan.net and DIDX.net are growing fast with a myriad of partners. Techistan is full of excellent multimedia content in the form of channels, podcasts, press releases, product reviews, and blogs. We recently added channels for Allison Smith the voice of Asterisk and VoipSwitch.

Our eyes are on everything and everybody in every remote and developed area of the world to inspire and provide informative content. We think of the term 'Techistan' as the land of technology where there are no boundaries. In addition, we are developing great relations with new areas of the world such as Africa, more Latin American areas and Asian areas to make SIP DID phone numbers available on DIDX.

One last thought, thank you to Technology Marketing Corporation and the ITEXPO (News - Alert) events for your empowering support to us and others around the world in IP, everything.
