DIDx Podcast: A Closer Look at The SIP School

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

A Pensacola, Florida-based provider of Direct Inward Dialing or “DID” phone numbers to IP communications companies, recently announced a partnership with The SIP School, an online certification site for SIP and  LAN/WAN technologies for VoIP.

Officials with DIDXchange (News - Alert), a registered and patented service of Super Technologies, Inc., note the partnership will empower entrepreneurs, carriers and developer students with the education needed to support SMB startups and technology-related jobs

Graham Francis, CEO of Vocale Ltd., which owns and operates The SIP School, recently took some time to chat with DIDx’s Suzanne Bowen about the SIP School, and the projects the company is working on.

During the Podcast, Francis told Bowen that their educational training system is focused on “getting people confident with working with SIP.”

With The SIP School, users have a flash-based training system that includes animated games, labs and quizzes to gain qualification and remain current with SIP-related topics.

“We provide training on SIP that covers everything from basic messaging, SDP, the servers, proxy’s, firewall security - all the way through INUM and onto SIP and Unified Communications (News - Alert),” Francis said.

“A lot of people are out there installing SIP phones and SIP PBXs and when they come against problems, they struggle a bit - so instead of just teaching people theory, we try to give people confidence to download software and use products to analyze problems and become confident when working with the SIP protocol.”

Aside from training, the SIP School also offers a SSCATM certification that is growing rapidly Francis said, as its endorsed by companies like Mitel (News - Alert), Panasonic, Ingate, AudioCodes, Brekeke and DID as well as organizations like TIA and Bicsi, and others.

During the Podcast, the current state of the economy and the importance of training and certification in this technology was also discussed. Certification from The SIP School will make a person more employable as they can provide empowering expertise for all kinds of new businesses.
