Provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions and VoIP E9-1-1 services, Intrado (News - Alert) Inc., offers public safety and government organizations reliable telecommunication services and provides the basis of safety for the nations 9-1-1 network applications.

Today, the company announced their support for a new next generation 9-1-1 standard. The new standard, the Emergency Information Service Interface (EISI) standard, defines the way in which native 9-1-1 networks will deliver new IP-based content and services.

Currently, the standard, which has also been standardized by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) Emergency Services Interconnection Forum, is available as an American National Standard for trial use.

With the standard, new advanced collaboration services and information is made available for Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) from a number of standard network service providers.

With the new standard, increased interoperability and efficiency is possible by eliminating the need to develop different solutions for the requirements of each specific 9-1-1-technology provider or communications center.

Also with the new standard, which can be combined with ESMI, an already approved standard on how equipment will receive IP information, PSAPs and other endpoints are given better management and access to new information in emergencies.   Technical reporting on the framework and structure is also available.

Intrado Intelligent Emergency Network is a delivery platform for next generation 9-1-1 services that offers public safety officials better control and efficiency over operations and gives PSAPs all the latest features and technologies.

Stephen Meer, Intrado Chief Technology office and cofounder commented in a statement to the press, "The approval of the EISI standard will enable the Intrados Emergency Network to access IP-based content that will greatly enhance the quality of emergency communications and response."

Intrado is a subsidiary of West Corporation, who purchased the company earlier this year.
