ClearOne has announced that its MAX IP and MAXAttach IP series of SIP-based VoIP conference phones are now interoperable with Cisco's SIP-based CallManager 5 IP telephony platform, as well as Nortel's (News - Alert) MCS 5100 multimedia communication server. ClearOne recently released a major firmware upgrade for its MAX IP products, which enabled these SIP interoperability milestones.
The MAX IP platform also previously received Avaya's (News - Alert) DevConnect certification, and has tested interoperable with other SIP platforms, peripherals, and softphones, such as those offered by 3Com, Aastra, AdTran, Asterisk, Brekeke, CounterPath, Inter-Tel, Siemens (News - Alert), Sylantro, and others.
In addition, the MAX IP products offer ClearOne's (News - Alert) unique capability to daisy-chain multiple phones together for coverage in larger rooms. Up to four units can be connected, which means that up to 12 microphones, four loudspeakers, and four dial pads can be distributed throughout the room so that all participants can hear and be heard, and have nearby access to a dial pad to mute the call, dial, or change volume.
According to ClearOne, the MAX IP products are priced up to $350 lower list price than competing products.
"This latest MAX IP firmware upgrade and our successful interop testing with SIP platforms from Cisco, Nortel, and others, put the MAX IP platform at the forefront of VoIP conference phone technology," said Kurt Olsen, ClearOne's director of product marketing. "Customers who have tried our MAX products quickly realize that they are a far better alternative to the status quo.
