Conference Phones: Not Just a Good Idea, But Also a Good Investment

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Senior Editor

Many companies are looking for new, or reinvented, ways to save costs and be friendlier to the environment. One of the most popular uses of technology to achieve those goals is installing different types of conferencing solutions. Probably most common are conference phones. That’s because technological advancements have made conference phones more effective than ever before without adding an undue amount of complexity to the meeting process.

Conferences phones distributor KeyPhonesDirect.com reported that one of its clients, United Agencies Insurance Corporation of Pasadena California, is a particularly good example of a company that appreciates the efficiency and savings of conference phones.

United Agencies owner Gary Conkey has placed one or more Polycom (News - Alert) conference phones in each of his California offices and still wonders why he didn’t do it sooner.

“The sound is as distinct as though each person was sitting in the same room and we don’t waste time driving or flying to locations for meetings” Conkey reported in a KeyPhonesDirect.com customer testimonial. “Now important meetings don’t have to wait until budget allows or be postponed until we justify the cost with a full day’s agenda. We can get together on the conference phones as issues come up and resolve them rapidly.”

Companies like United Agencies are realizing that conference phones can be more effective than e-mail when collaboration and rapid interaction is required within a group.

Conkey confirmed this: “Our first Polycom conference phones were a good idea when gas was $2.50 a gallon. Now at more than $4.00, I guess we’d have to say they’ve become a great investment!”

Investing in conference phones makes sense, but it can still be a somewhat confusing process. KeyPhonesDirect.com — which sells phones from Polycom, ClearOne (News - Alert), Konftel and Lifesize — puts a strong emphasis on customer service to make sure its clients choose the phones that best fit their needs.

“We are one of the few companies that answers the phone immediately without sending people into an automated attendant,” Greg Lamont, manager at KeyPhonesDirect.com, told TMCnet.
