Digital Phone Service for the Home is a Great Solution Powered by Your Communications Provider

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

In our drive for the latest in technology innovations, it seems that everything has gone digital. Is it any surprise that phones have done the same? It's relatively easy to find a communications provider that offers this service, but digital phone options from PowerNet Global (News - Alert) offer a new twist on standard communications.

According to the PowerNet Global website, the company offers five different types of plans for digital home phone service that are convenient, inexpensive and customizable for any residential customer or any small to medium-sized business. PNG has been a communications provider of choice for nearly two decades, building on its strong reputation for meeting the needs of the consumer.

By simply utilizing a touch tone phone with a high-speed Internet connection, customers can take advantage of unlimited local and long distance calling on top of crisp voice quality, not to mention a variety of other features not offered by any other communications provider.

The concept of a digital phone is not only more cost-effective than traditional phone service, it is also better equipped to handle more calling plans and bonus features, such as checking voicemail from any location with Internet access and traveling with a digital phone adapter. Communications provider customers will also find an online management tool to allow customers to handle their accounts and personalize their settings.

The Digital Phone (News - Alert) @ Home option is a VoIP (Voice over IP) service that sends standard phone calls over the customer's Internet connection. Instead of plugging the phone into a wall jack, the phone is plugged into the free phone adapter that is provided by PNG. The company doesn’t require annual contracts that tack on unexplained fees, but delivers 24x7 customer service and reliability.

To take advantage of communications provider PNG's digital phone service, all a customer simply needs is a broadband Internet connection, the PNG phone adapter and a touchtone phone. Customers can even keep their existing phone number. While digital phone service is similar to the standard phone service in many respects, it uses the Internet instead of physical phone lines to complete the call.

Regardless of the new technology, any touchtone phone can be used with the digital phone service. Home security systems can even be routed directly to the customer's cell phone, and digital phone service for the home works well for emergency calls. The digital phone concept utilizes Enhanced 911, or E-911, which sends the telephone number and address to emergency responders as the call is made.If you’re looking for the latest in communications provider technology, take a closer look at PNG to see if this digital phone service is right for you.
