Communications Provider Global Gossip Selects Verizon Wholesale Cloud Services

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Verizon (News - Alert) Communications, a provider of broadband, wireless and wireline communications services, announced that Australia-based communications provider Global Gossip has selected Verizon Global Wholesale cloud services to support its 300 sites across Australia, Europe, Fiji, New Zealand, the U.K. and the U.S.

"As business needs evolve, companies like Global Gossip rely on Verizon Global Wholesale to deliver the high-performance cloud services they need, freeing them to focus on their core goal of providing quality services to their own customers," said Patrick Sullivan (News - Alert), sales leader for Asia-Pacific, Verizon Global Wholesale, in a statement.

The service, offered through Verizon's highly resilient on-demand Computing-as-a-Service (CaaS), is fully managed and gives the communications provider the flexibility to quickly accommodate new functionality and growth. Global Gossip offers guest communication services including software, hardware, management and support for phone cards, mobile, Internet and wireless access to tourists, especially youth and student travelers.

With Verizon's dynamic cloud services, Global Gossip gains the ability to configure and adjust its computing infrastructure accordingly around-the-clock. The communications provider can also monitor the performance and availability of its applications, while being sure that the content is secure and reliable. In addition, the company can move, add or delete resources such as physical and virtual services.

Verizon’s service provides enhanced visibility into traffic usage and associated costs, so Global Gossip gains the crucial insight needed to quickly respond to the changing business environment. The service also delivers detailed reports on deployed resources, as well as service requests and comprehensive online support.

In addition to offering enhanced control and flexibility, Verizon’s cloud service also enables the communications provider to easily back up its operations in the cloud, safeguarding its resources in the case of service interruptions and providing a built-in layer of protection.

Some of the important features of Verizon's Global Wholesale CaaS include firewalls, load balancing, multi-tiered networking, remote access and network connectivity options.

Back In July, Verizon and the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory signed a memorandum of understanding to develop innovative ways to reduce energy use in the information and communications technology industry
