Infobright Helps Communications Provider 8x8 Deploy New Business Intelligence Solution

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Infobright, an open source analytic database company, announced that communications provider 8x8 (News - Alert) has deployed an integrated business intelligence (BI) solution that runs on Infobright Enterprise Edition (IEE) analytic database.

8x8 offers a wide array of communications solutions including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone, managed hosting, Web conferencing and unified communications services to more than 23,000 small and mid-sized enterprise customers.

The communications provider needed a solution that would give it the functionality needed to analyze large volumes of incoming sales, customer and order-related data. However, since the information originates in multiple source systems, delivering the combined business intelligence reports that end users were demanding had become an administrative burden for the service provider.

To address these issues, 8x8 turned to Infobright and Pentaho, an open source BI provider, for a BI solution that enables the company to capture, load, analyze and report on its data from a central environment, company officials said.

The communications provider has been using IEE in combination with ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) and reporting tools from Pentaho. With this combination, 8x8 has been able to combine multiple sources of critical business data into a single engine for integrated analysis.

“Infobright has eliminated the headaches that previously surrounded our myriad reporting requirements, said Ram Narayanaswamy, chief technology officer at 8x8, in a statement. According to Narayanaswamy, “Infobright enables us to automate numerous pre-configured reports and to provide users the ability to create ad-hoc queries and reports themselves.” The service has resulted in huge efficiency gain.

In related news, PowerNet Global, a communications provider, was recently awarded the Top 50 Channel Program award, by Phone+ readers. Headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, PowerNet Global (News - Alert) offers multiple communication services including voice, data, SIP, and managed services.
