Colocation Company's Partner Completes Seattle-to-Canada Expansion

By Carrie Schmelkin, TMCnet Web Editor

360networks (News - Alert), a wholesale provider of telecommunications services, has completed a route between Seattle and Vancouver, Canada, which will now provide access to Everett, Bellingham and Vancouver, BC markets as well as other growth markets based on a customer’s specific requirements for 360networks’ wholesale customers.

The 150 mile route is 360networks’ third point of entry into Canada.

“360networks is dedicated to building out our network in support of our customers’ needs,” said Steve Cardwell, vice president of sales for 360networks, in a statement. “Providing high performing and cost effective connectivity into Vancouver is an obvious geographic extension for our customer base.”

360networks is a full service wholesale provider of private line transport, Ethernet, IP, VoIP, and local access (T1/DS3) services, on its wholly-owned fiber optic backbone. All of 360networks’ services are now available along the new route.

Moreover, customers can move traffic from Canada directly to U.S. exchanges by using the new route along with the company’s Layer 2 Ethernet (L2E) and Virtual Internet Exchange (VIX) services. U.S.   operators now have a new alternative when considering expansion into Canada’s west coast, according to company officials.

“360networks continues to reach major metros in the U.S. and now British Columbia, while also going deep into tier 2, 3 and 4 markets to better serve our customers,” said Rick Coma, senior vice president for 360networks.  “We are committed to maintaining exemplary levels of service as we grow 360networks into one of the nation’s premier next generation wholesale providers.”

360networks' services are available through the facilities of Telehouse America, a pioneer in data center and colocation facilities.

In recent colocation news, Telehouse is gearing up for its participation in the International Telecoms Week (ITW). Telehouse will join Telehouse Europe from May 23-25 in Washington, D.C. for ITW 2011, a week that serves as a meeting point for the global wholesale telecommunications community to buy and sell both voice and data products and services.

“Telehouse wants to share information about our products, facilities, and services as well as learn about our entire industry,” Fred Cannone (News - Alert), director of sales and marketing at Telehouse, told TMCnet as to why Telehouse is participating at ITW. “ITW provides Telehouse the opportunity to expand our own knowledge, while exploring potential solutions with ITW participants.”

Telehouse’s booth, No. 740, will be manned by both Telehouse America and Telehouse UK professionals.
