Colocation Company Partner Sidera Selected by Bloomsbury for Network Upgrade

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Sidera Networks (News - Alert), a Telehouse America partner, has announced that it will provide dedicated Internet access to Bloomsbury USA to help the company to address its growing bandwidth and reliability demands. The network upgrade is expected to support the organization’s key applications for the overall business.

Bloomsbury is located on Fifth Avenue in New York. Established in 1998, the company is a general interest publisher of adult and children’s books. Since its inception, Bloomsbury has been sharing network access with Macmillan, its distribution partner. As the company’s business has grown, so has its bandwidth needs and expanding beyond the capabilities provided in the shared network.

Sidera Networks was an optimal choice for Bloomsbury as the IT wanted a diverse fiber-based connection with the ability to scale with them, while also ensuring optimal performance for all core business applications.

“As our business expanded on a domestic and global level, Bloomsbury’s need for faster and more efficient access to its data increased dramatically,” said Peter DeGiglio, Chief Operating Officer, Bloomsbury USA, in a statement. “It became important to upgrade our fiber optic network and Sidera provided an efficient and affordable solution.”

When compared with other providers in this space, Sidera demonstrated that it offered the right combination of support, diversity and scalability to meet Bloomsbury’s needs. At the same time, Sidera also offered expertise in planning, building and maintaining a state-of-the-art fiber optic-based network, which was a key factor in the decision-making process for Bloomsbury.

“The implementation at Bloomsbury is a great example of what many organizations are starting to realize - that a solid network is essential to their business performance and keeping it up to date is critical,” said Mike Sicoli, CEO of Sidera Networks. “Network upgrades do not have to mean headaches and downtime when you work the right provider. Our expert team quickly evaluates and addresses the needs of our clients, making network upgrades seamless, resulting in a meaningful and positive impact to their business performance.”

Just a few doors down from Sidera, its partner Telehouse has recently opened the doors of its latest New York-based colocation facility, located right in the heart of the Chelsea meat packing district of lower Manhattan. This is the company’s third colocation facility in the New York City area.

In a recent TMC (News - Alert) colocation feature, Telehouse talks of the benefits of collocating in New York. According to company officials, clients enjoy access to a more competitive carrier and network dense environment with lower latency than outside New York City, as it serves as the gateway to one of the largest fiber networks in the world.
