Collaboration Software: SMBs Can Replace Traditional IP/PBX with Thrupoint's PCX Server

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

A Professional Communications eXchange Server from Thrupoint is a collaboration software tool suited for the small to medium sized business, or branch offices of a larger enterprise, as a replacement to traditional IP/PBX (News - Alert).

According to Thrupoint officials, a PCX delivers the most used traditional features needed by the end-user, from call transfer, park, pickup, hold, ring-back and the like, in a way where they can be hosted, premise based, or served up by the cloud.

The product provides support for VXML 2.0 IVR Scripts, call presentation, Call Hold/Park/Pickup, N-way calling and blind transfer, among others, such as call forwarding, hunt groups and group ring.

It also offers DND - Direct to Voicemail, attendant coverage, last caller callback, missed call notification with live callback and custom caller-ID, among others.

Thrupoint officials say their PCX offering can be extended with their one number Personal Communication Router. By combining PCX and the PCR (News - Alert) products, users can get such features as Single Number Reach, multiple group contact lists, active call routing override and time of day routing, as well as simultaneous ring, sequential ring and event notifications via email or SMS.

Company officials say the PCX is suited for carriers and service providers looking to implement services to meet the needs of SMB-style operations and that PCX “can be implemented as a multi-tenant tool as part of a bundle of services, hosted individually for organizations wishing to customize to their specific needs and as a cloud based offering.”

In July TMC (News - Alert) reported that if you want mobile products for your workforce -- the virtual ones as well as the mobile ones -- and your IT department is apprehensive about what this will mean for their workload, that Thrupoint officials say implementing a corporate communication strategy “requires ways to help your IT organization embrace smartphone and smart client technologies as well as non-traditional endpoints.”
