Thrupoint's Mobile Smart Clients Help Companies Embrace Mobile Workforce

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

We’re guessing that you want mobile products for your workforce -- the virtual ones as well as the mobile ones. And that your IT department is apprehensive about what this will mean for their workload.

You’ve got an ally in Thrupoint, whose company officials say that implementing a corporate communication strategy “requires ways to help your IT organization embrace smartphone and smart client technologies as well as non-traditional endpoints.”

They understand the issues your IT department’s dealing with, and how to make it smooth and effective for all. “Our mobility clients extend your communications infrastructure and empower your workforce to communicate using the tools they like best.”

Some companies are tempted to build a walled garden around their IT infrastructure, Thrupoint officials say, “fighting to keep these devices out of your network.” Not an effective or desirable strategy, is it? Wouldn’t you rather ensure that these devices are used to “maximize their capabilities, reduce your telecommunications costs by bringing more calls on your IP network and provide security of communications?”

Sounds like the better option to us, anyway.

A couple months ago TMC’s (News - Alert) Stefanie Mosca wrote that TMC named unified communications product provider Thrupoint’s new Ubiquity Fixed Mobile Convergence Suite a recipient of its 2010 Unified Communications (News - Alert) magazine Product of the Year Award.

“This award comes at a convenient time for Thrupoint,” Mosca wrote, “as it just recently launched its new Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) Suite designed to enable enterprise mobility for both its large Enterprise customers and Service Providers serving the SMB market.”

Thrupoint lists some of the services they offer to help:

Mobile conferencing administration to help create and manage conference calls on the fly.

A personal assistant for live call control and dynamic routing.

What company officials call “network-ready SIP soft clients,” for using WiFi (News - Alert) and 3G networks to reduce toll charges, cellular minutes and roaming charges.

Click-2-Communicate, functionality to integrate presence into your corporate directory, provide access to communicate with anyone on your contact list from any source to any destination whether it is a cell phone, Internet browser or applications such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook, Lync, and Lotus Sametime.
