Recently, Savvis revealed that it had entered into a strategic partnership with Hortonworks, which will enable the company to leverage Hadoop and provide cloud-based big data solutions for enterprises. Hortonworks is a one of the biggest commercial vendors that promote the innovation, development and support of Apache Hadoop.
In a release, Steve Garrou, vice president of global solutions management at Savvis said, "Enterprises are increasingly interested in and exploring big data solutions. The combination of the Hortonworks Data Platform with the pay-per-use model, agility and simplicity of Savvis' industry-leading cloud services will offer tremendous value to our clients. Ultimately, Savvis' strategic agreement with Hortonworks will enable enterprises to leverage Hadoop to create valuable information through the searching, indexing and analyzing of sizeable quantities of information assembled from multiple sources."
Savvis, a specialist in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises will now incorporate Hortonworks Data Platform together with the Savvis Symphony suite of cloud services. This will help to simplify the transfer of data between the Hadoop-based platform hosted by Savvis and enterprise data systems. The Hortonworks Data Platform is powered by Apache Hadoop and can be used as a massively scalable platform for storing, processing and analyzing huge volumes of data.
