Descartes Systems Group announced that Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., a leading wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies, successfully implemented Descartes’ (News - Alert) cloud-based MobileLink solution. The GPS-based solution that resides in the cloud helps companies automate pick-up and delivery operations, and is part of Descartes’ Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite.
According to the press release that highlighted the deployment, Joseph Zanette, Solution Manager, Supply Chain for Ferguson Enterprises Inc., said, “MobileLink allows us to automate our proof-of-delivery process and capture critical information that can help us improve customer service and the productivity of our operations.” He added that, “Descartes’ integrated Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite allows us to implement a comprehensive fleet operations solution with one vendor. The mobile solution was a logical extension of our use of Descartes’ Route Planner for route planning and optimization.”
MobiLink is aimed at fleet operators who wish to provide their call center agents with the most up-to-date and comprehensive information possible in a cost-effective manner that can help enhance customer interactions in real-time. The solution provides:
- Route sequences
- Route status
- Turn-by-turn driving instructions
- Proof-of-delivery, including signature and photograph capture, and customer configurable field data capture.
It does so via Descartes' cloud-based wireless Global Logistics Network with bi-directional real-time links to Descartes' route planning and execution solutions and customer back-end systems. And, MobileLink is available on the Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Mobile and Java operating systems.
Descartes is a leading logistic solutions provider. As Edward Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer at Descartes, pointed out in describing the advantages of the integration of mobility with a cloud-based contact center platform, “Logistics means having what you need – product, people, or data – where you need it, when you need it… The Logistics Technology Platform is the world’s most extensive logistics network covering multiple transportation modes with the industry’s broadest array of modular, cloud-based, interoperable web and wireless logistics management solutions.”
Ferguson is joining is swelling number of fleet operators who understand and wish to leverage the integration of mobility generated information with contact center agents. Descartes’ cloud-based solution gives companies like Ferguson the flexibility to pay as they grow and to quickly and easily take advantage of the latest technologies as they are added to the platform.
