At the recent Frost & Sullivan 2009 Excellence in Information & Communication Technologies Awards Banquet, networking infrastructure solutions provider ECI Telecom (News - Alert) was awarded the 2008 Global Product Differentiation Innovation Award for the World IPTV Access Infrastructure market.
Research firm Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) noted ECI Telecom’s strong presence in the IPTV access market, especially in the regions of Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and pointed to its Hi-FOCuS platform as a key element of ECI’s 1Net business framework, which provides an optimized path for network transition for carriers worldwide.
"The Hi-FOCuS is among the handful of MSAN platforms on the market and the leading MSAN in IPTV (News - Alert) Access supporting any mix of ADSL2+, VDSL2, SHDSL, NG-Voice emulation and simulation, as well as GPON and Ethernet fiber access,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Prayerna Raina. “This is also ECI's 1Net proposition of smooth migration to NGN, while supporting legacy services and guaranteeing future services and solutions."
The Hi-FOCuS’ future-proof capabilities are attractive to customers, as they can gradually introduce new services while guaranteeing support for legacy services.
Frost & Sullivan awarded ECI for the company’s Hi-FOCuS Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN), as well as its product differentiation and commitment to innovation and future-proof capabilities.
“This recognition further validates our successful Hi-FOCuS MSAN line and the value it offers our customers for current and future network deployments,” said Tony Scarfo, chief strategy officer of ECI Telecom, when the awards were initially announced.
As the IPTV access market continues to expand, as of August 2008, Frost & Sullivan expects that the world IPTV access infrastructure market is poised for solid growth at a robust double digit CAGR from 2008 to 2014, revenues from companies such as ECI are helping reach an estimated $4.5 billion mark as evidenced by increased activity in fiber roll-outs.
“ECI continually strives to take our products to the next level, anticipating the needs of our customers and delivering solutions that maintain the highest of standards,” said Scarfo.
Frost & Sullivan analysts say the market was driven primarily by existing and potential consumer video services that are best delivered via a high-bandwidth fiber infrastructure, and the intense competition among communication service providers.
ECI Telecom also recently received the top spot as the best platform in the CO DSLAM category as voted on by Current Analysis (News - Alert).
