ECI Telecom, a global provider of networking infrastructure solutions, has enhanced the BroadGate (BG) line of micro MultiService Provisioning Platforms (µMSPP) with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) capabilities.
This move will enable operators to migrate smoothly to all IP, next generation networks (NGN).
According to company’s sources, this new enhanced platform complements ECI's MPLS-based and MEF-certified platforms, the XDM family of MSPPs and the 9000 family of Carrier Ethernet Switch Routers (CESR). The officials added that ECI’s LightSoft unified network management solution is successfully managing the entire product line.
Michael Howard (News - Alert), principal analyst at Infonetics Research indicated that service providers find MPLS to be a key ingredient in their migration to all packet networks and a majority of them want IP/MPLS functions in their MSPPs as it allow them to leverage existing investments when integrating carrier class Ethernet capabilities into their infrastructure.
Howard noted that their company has added important functionality for the enforcement of hard QoS across network domains and the guarantee of quality of experience in the delivery of residential triple play, 3G mobile services, and VPNs for businesses by extending MPLS to the BroadGate metro access platform.
Alon Moshes, head of ECI Telecom’s (News - Alert) MSPP line of business added that service providers are searching for scalable and flexible platforms to support the gradual migration to all-IP networks.
Noting that enhancing of BG with MPLS capabilities round out their MPLS offerings for their entire transport product line, from core to access, Moshes emphasized that this validates their commitment to providing their customers with future-proof solutions.
