Sitel Group Joins BPO Organizations to Support Venezuelan Refugees
CX solution provider Sitel Group has officially joined the Tent Partnership for Refugees initiative with eight other BPO organizations to support Venezuelan refugees in Colombia.
Due to the political, financial, and social complications that have plagued Venezuela over the last few years, citizens have migrated to neighboring South American countries in search of better opportunities for living and employment. More than 15% of Venezuelans have left the country since 2017, and a large portion have settled in countries such as Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. This has led to global tech companies like Tent, IAOP, BPrO (the Colombian BPO association), and now Sitel Group® to offer employment assistance to refugees.
"Since 2017, our teams in Colombia have hired nearly 500 Venezuelan refugees," said Eduardo Endo, Country Manager of Sitel Colombia. "We are honored to support this vulnerable population with growing career opportunities and education programs as they build a new life here in Colombia. The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the refugee crisis in Venezuela, and we're proud to be able to do our part for many of these immigrants."
Sitel plans to increase its hiring rate by 66% by adding 300 new employees over the next 3 years. The pandemic has caused additional complications for Venezuelan refugees, and the incoming support from Sitel will help bring new opportunities for faster economic growth.
"We're excited to welcome Sitel to the Tent family, and we are so proud of their efforts to hire Venezuelans in Colombia," said Yaron Schwartz, Head of Impact Sourcing at the Tent Partnership for Refugees. "Integrating refugees into a company's workforce isn't just good for society - refugees are hard-working, motivated employees who tend to stay longer with their employers. Companies stand a lot to gain by integrating this talented group of people."
