Telecommunications player BT (News - Alert) and TeleWare have partnered to launch a network-based recording service for mobile devices.
The recording service is designed to assist financial organizations in the U.K to address Financial Services Authority (FSA) call recording regulations, which will come into effect on November 14.
“The new FSA regulation will impact organizations across the whole of the financial services market,” said Andy Nicholson, president, global banking & financial markets, BT, in a statement. “BT’s legacy in the sector means that we’re well placed to help our customers and our aim is to provide secure, easy to use, cost-effective solutions that address these and future regulatory requirements they might have.”
The managed service will assist in recording and storing mobile voice and short message service (SMS) traffic without affecting the user experience and without limiting the mobile’s functionality. There is no need for any software to be installed on the mobile device.
Moreover, the service can support any Global Certification Forum-certified mobile handset or operating system. Voice calls and messages will be routed through the BT/TeleWare (News - Alert) cloud-based network service. There will be no delays in call connections or potential circumvention of recordings.
“We have a long standing relationship with BT and are pleased to be joining forces with them on this new, business-critical solution,” said Steve Haworth (News - Alert) CEO, TeleWare, in a statement. “BT’s network capabilities and experience in trading communication will be invaluable in getting this solution out to the market.”
Recently, BT announced that it leveraged Metaswitch technology to become one of the first major European operators to deliver emulated PSTN services over VoIP technology. These types of carrier services are in demand in a number of areas, as consumers and businesses are demanding high quality VoIP.
